In June, we introduced Seaport — a brand new, open-source, web3 marketplace protocol for safely and efficiently buying and selling NFTs. Launched first on Ethereum, Seaport has helped create a better, more feature-rich experience for our community, while lowering the cost to use web3 marketplaces, like OpenSea.

After several months of observing Seaport’s impact and collecting valuable feedback, we’re excited to introduce Polygon support on Seaport. In the coming months, we will be adding support for Klaytn and other EVM-compatible chains as well.

Update: On October 4, 2022, we added support for Klatyn on Seaport.

Previously, Polygon on OpenSea was powered by the 0x protocol. And now, by moving Polygon over to Seaport, we’re consolidating our infrastructure to provide a more stable buying and selling experience that matches other chains. The move will also allow us to ship new features across all EVM-compatible chains faster.

With Polygon now supported on Seaport, we’re excited to launch several new features that will make the buying and selling experience with Polygon even better: Here’s what you can expect:

• No listing thresholds: You can now list and buy Polygon NFTs at any price; we’ve eliminated the $5 minimum. There will now be a $1 minimum on offers to help prevent low-intent offers.
• Native token support: Buyers and sellers can list and transact in MATIC, Polygon’s native token.
• Multiple creator fees: Creators can specify up to 4 payout addresses to be paid out in real-time.
• Collection & attribute offers: The vast majority of Polygon NFT collections will have collection offers (offers on every item in the collection) available. Creators can also enable attribute offers (offers for all items in a collection that match the requested attribute).
• English and Dutch auctions: Sellers will be able to run English (ascending bid) auctions and Dutch (descending bid) auctions.
• List as bundles: Sellers can list Polygon NFTs as bundles that can be purchased together.  
• Purchasing for another wallet: Buyers can purchase for another wallet – e.g. a gift for a friend or a hardware or multisig wallet.
• Bulk Transfers: Users can transfer multiple Polygon NFTs to the same wallet in a single transaction.

As part of the shift to Seaport, OpenSea now supports using MATIC, Polygon’s native token, as a payment option. Anyone transacting on Polygon using OpenSea will now be required to pay for their own gas fees for transacting using MATIC.
