Welcome to the OpenSea digest. Let’s look back through the biggest NFT and web3 news of the week.

Justin Aversano unveils new foundation, launches $50,000 grant program to collect art from all 50 states

Fondazione Aversano, a nonprofit founded by NFT photographer Justin Aversano, announced its first initiative Sunday, a $50,000 grant program to support artists across the United States, funded by proceeds from Aversano's project Moments of the Unknown.

The plan calls for supporting 50 artists with up to $1,000 each over the next 10 months, with one artwork collected to represent every state.

The foundation has already acquired its first piece, from artist Anne Spalter, and named the collector known as Ordinals Guy and artist Viktoria Nagibina as co-founders of the organization.

If the foundation raises $200,000 for a second phase, it plans to expand internationally, collecting one artwork from 200 artists across different countries to build what Aversano calls a "Global Gallery” and a “generational effort to empower artists and visionaries.”

New onchain marketplace partners with The Luxury Closet to sell authenticated designer goods

Beezie, a marketplace that puts physical collectibles on blockchain, announced a partnership Wednesday with The Luxury Closet, a Dubai-based luxury resale marketplace, to bring authenticated handbags, watches, jewelry and accessories onto Beezie's platform.

According to a press release shared with OpenSea, each physical item is vetted by The Luxury Closet's in-house authentication team and represented by a digital twin, a blockchain record tied to that specific piece. Buyers can trade, store or redeem it for physical delivery.

Beezie CEO and founder Andrea Miele said the partnership brings the infrastructure of digital ownership to a category built on scarcity and provenance.

The launch, planned for late 2026, will start with blind shopping bags containing one authenticated item each, revealed immediately upon opening with published odds shared beforehand.

NODE plans New York studio open house for October

NODE, a nonprofit foundation that exhibits and supports digital art, announced an open house for its new studio space in SoHo, New York, scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 11, from noon to 3 p.m.

The NODE organization operates a physical space in Palo Alto, California, which serves as home to CryptoPunks, one of the earliest NFT collections.

The New York City open house requires registration and host approval, and the exact address will be shared with approved guests.

Artists Stern and Stiles open AI-collaborative exhibition at Museum of Art + Light

Artists Nathaniel Stern and Sasha Stiles opened "Generation to Generation: Conversing with Kindred Technologies" on Sept. 4 at the Museum of Art + Light in Manhattan, Kansas, where it runs through Feb. 14, 2027, in the museum's second-floor De Coded Gallery.

The exhibition brings together six poem-projects the pair have made together since 2021, including sculpture, code, generative art and found materials, among them "The E-Waste Land," an installation built from discarded electronics.

The show examines the relationship between humans and the technologies they create, treating artificial intelligence as part of a longer history of tools that extend language, memory and imagination rather than something separate from human creativity.

It comes with a full-color companion book featuring the complete text of all six poems, artwork images and essays from several contributors, alongside a documentary and an interactive station built for younger visitors.

The exhibition originated at Krasl Art Center in Michigan before moving to Kansas, with additional programming planned for November.

21 major banks plan joint stablecoin venture, targeting 2027 launch

A group of 21 financial institutions, including Bank of America, Citi, Goldman Sachs and UBS, said Tuesday they plan to form a company in the second half of 2026 to issue stablecoins for payments and digital asset transactions.

The venture will start with a U.S. dollar-denominated stablecoin, expected to launch in the first half of 2027, before adding tokens tied to other Group of Seven currencies, with a euro-denominated stablecoin as the next priority.

The project grew out of an initiative 10 banks announced in October 2025, and now includes institutions across North America, Europe, East Asia, the Middle East and Africa, such as Wells Fargo, Deutsche Bank and MUFG Bank.

The group said it intends to meet requirements under the U.S. GENIUS Act and the European Union's Markets in Crypto-Assets framework.

SEC proposes updated transfer agent rules

The Securities and Exchange Commission proposed new rules Tuesday for registered transfer agents, the firms that track ownership of securities, to account for blockchain technology and tokenized securities.

The proposal marks the first substantive update to those rules in decades, reported CoinDesk, and it would allow blockchains to serve as official records of securities transactions while adding new requirements in areas such as cybersecurity. It will remain open for public comment for 60 days after publication in the Federal Register.

In a separate statement, SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce raised a question asking whether transfer agents should be allowed to collect identifiers like email and digital wallet addresses instead of names and physical addresses.
